Women's Tennis Sweeps West Virginia

WACO, Texas – The 14th-ranked Baylor women’s tennis team shutout West Virginia, 7-0, on Friday at the Hurd Tennis Center.
Doubles action started off with Alex Clay and Makenzie Craft claiming the first victory over Vivian Tsui and Irinka Toidze, 8-3, on court three. To snag the doubles point, Alex Leatu and Jordaan Sanford defeated Hailey Barrett and Ikttetesh Chahal, 8-4. Kiah Generette and Ema Burgic finished out doubles play and took down Oana Manole and Mrgole, 8-4.
In singles play, No. 122 Sanford took control of the first singles point by shutting out Manole, 6-0, 6-0. Sanford improved to 12-2 in dual-match play and won her sixth straight decision. On court four, Alex Clay clinched the match for the Lady Bears with a victory over Chahal, 6-3, 6-1. Wrapping up play, 52nd-ranked Generette took down Barrett, 6-2, 6-4. Generette is now 10-6 on the season.
·         Baylor improved to 11-6 overall and 2-0 in Big 12.
·         Sanford did not lose a game against the Mountaineers.
·         Sanford won her sixth straight decision.
·         The Lady Bears have won both times that they have faced the Mountaineers.

“The big key now is we have to move on from this one. This team is learning how to do that, so I think we will be fine for Sunday.” – Scrivano on turning around to face Iowa State on Sunday
The Lady Bears face Iowa State at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Hurd Tennis Center. The Cyclones (8-8, 0-3) are coming off 7-0 loss at Texas.
