The Baylor Womenıs Tennis team dominated the
Baylor Tennis Classic winning all
but one match they competed in to give them a 30-1
record for the Baylor Tennis
Classic.
Baylorıs 69 ranked Katja Kovac and Vida
Mulec, Baylor freshman, did not play a
finals match in the Flight ³A² singles, and will
share the first and runner-up
titles.
Karin Andersson took the finals in flight
³B² dominating singles play,
defeating Michelle Colaninni from Texas Tech, 6-2,
6-1. Claudia Aguilar took
third place after loosing to Sonnia Orellana from
Texas Tech, 6-3, 6-4, the
Bearıs only loss at the tournament in singles and
doubles. Aguilar defeated
Techıs Colaninni, 6-2, 6-2, to take third place.
In flight ³C² singles Paola Stephen and
Monica Gonzalez did not play the finals
matchup against oneanother, and will share the
first place and runner-up titles.
Gonzalez defeated Irena Novotna from USL, 3-6,
7-5, 6-1, and Stephen defeated
Noel Ruiz from Texas Tech, 6-4, 2-6, 6-0.
Baylorıs two doubles teams in flight ³A²
doubles did not play for the final
spot and Andersson-Parekh and Mulec-Stephen will
share the first place and
runner-up titles. Andersson-Parekh defeated
T.J.C.ıs Tayntor-Dawson team, 8-2,
and Mulec-Stephen defeated T.J.C.ıs
Rosslund-Terburg team, 8-5.
Aguilar and Gonzalez won the flight ³B²
doubles finals by defeating Lamarıs
Wentzel and Fenner, 8-5. Aguilar and Gonzalez
also defeated Kloner-Iqbal from
NEL, 8-7 (3).
