Three Baylor players will be playing on Sunday in the HEB-Baylor Fall Tennis Invitational. The doubles tandem of Daria Potapova and Stephanie Balzert will play at 9 a.m. at the Baylor Tennis Center and Zuzana Krchnakova will play at 10:30 a.m. when she begins consolation semifinal action.
Potapova, a junior, and Balzert, a sophomore, advanced to the finals with an 8-6 win over UT-Arlington's Marketa Cizova and Daniela Movakova. They will take on Kentucky's Sarah Foster and Aibika Kalsarieva. Foster and Kalsarieva advanced to the finals after defeating Baylor's Iva Mihaylova and Izabela Mijic, 8-3. Potapova defeated Kaite Ruckert of Texas 7-6, 7-6 in singles quarterfinals while Balzert lost to top-seeded Dianna Hollands of Arizona, 0-6, 7-5, 6-2. Potapova's run in the tournament was halted in the semifinals when she lost to Tulane's Jenny Kuhn 6-0, 6-0.
In consolation quarterfinal action Mijic, Mihaylova and Klara Zrustova each lost but sophomore Zuzana Krchnakova won her match against Auburn's Liz Sauerborn, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 to advance to the semifinals.
