WESTWOOD, Calif. - Baylor women's tennis senior Jordaan Sanford advanced to third round of the Riviera/ITA All-American prequalifying singles draw with two victories on Saturday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
In the first round Sanford, ranked No. 97, defeated senior Natalia Pintusava of Minnesota, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2, to claim her first win in California. Advancing to the round of 32, she faced sophomore Rana Sherif Ahmed of Fresno State and earned a 6-2, 6-0 triumph. The two wins leave Sanford just won victory away from earning one of eight spots into the tournament's qualifying draw.
The Diamond Bar, Calif., native will face an opponent to be determined on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT. in the third round.
Teammate Victoria Kisialeva, ranked No. 114, claimed a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the opening round over Sarah McLean of Arkansas, before falling in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the second round of action to Pepperdine's Matea Cutura.
