FORT WORTH, Texas - Baylor women's tennis sophomore Kiah Generette and the doubles duo of Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankle won their way into of the USTA/ITA Regional Championships on Saturday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
In the quarterfinals, Generette came out with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 upset of 108th-ranked Anna Mamalat of Texas A&M. She will now face No. 30 Stafanie Tan of TCU in the semifinal round at noon on Sunday. Generette is now 6-1 on the year and has won four straight matches.
Senior Jordan Sanford fell to Texas A&M's Cristina Stancu, 6-3, 6-3, in the quarterfinals. Sophomore Victoria Kisialeva also wasn't able to get past the quarterfinal round, and fell to TCU's Tan, 6-7, 6-3, 6-3.
In quarterfinal doubles action, Kisialeva and Blair Shankle defeated TCU's Simona Parajova and Tan, 8-3. The Baylor tandem will play Texas A&M's Stefanie Hristov and Stancu in the semifinals at 10:30 a.m. Kisialeva and Shankle are 8-0 on the year.
