Vida Mulec moves into Third Round of Southwest Regionals on Sunday

The Baylor women's tennis team finished off another strong day in Fort Worth at the Omni Hotels Southwest Championships with three Bears moving into the singles Round of 32 and one doubles team moving into the Round of 16.
Vida Mulec, Daria Potapova, and Stephanie Balzert all had a strong day in singles on Saturday winning both of their matches on the day. Mulec started out the day early against Marina Chiarelli of LSU winning in three sets 6-7, 6-3, 6-1, and finished off the day with a win over (17) Lindsay Blau of Texas 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. In Potapova's early match she defeated Brenna Shackleford of TCU in straight sets 6-4, 6-2, and then defeating Anja Schmidt of Centenary 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 in her late match. Balzert came out hot in her early match against Ani Logoni of Houston winning 6-3, 6-7, 7-5, and completing the day with a win over Ana Saaibi of Tulane in straight sets 6-3, 7-5.
In doubles action on Saturday, the team of Mulec/Balzert won their only match of the day over Barringer/Bucewitz of ULM 8-2, moving them into the round of 16 on Sunday. The team of Blahutiakova/Mijic won their first match in the round of 64 over Bomer/Kanury of North Texas 8-4, and then was defeated in the second round by Aburto/Perez of TCU 8-3.
Action will continue on Sunday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth.
