FORT WORTH, Texas – Baylor women’s tennis sophomore Kiah Generette continued her run through the singles draw at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships with a victory in the semifinal round on Sunday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
To advance to the finals, Generette took down the fourth seeded and 30th-ranked Stefanie Tan of TCU, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1. The Signal Hill, Calif., native has now won five matches in a row and is 7-1 on the year in singles.
In Monday’s singles finals, Generette will face the event’s No. 2 seed and the country’s 48th-ranked player, Cristina Stancu of Texas A&M at 10:30 a.m.
In doubles action, the Baylor duo Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankle fell to Texas A&M’s eighth-ranked Stefanie Hristov and Cristina Stancu in the semifinal round, 8-4. It was the first loss of the year for the BU pair, who had started 2013 8-0.
