FORT WORTH, Texas – Baylor women’s tennis sophomore Kiah Generette came up one win short of winning the singles title at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships, after she was beaten by 48th-ranked Cristina Stancu of Texas A&M, on Monday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The Signal Hill, Calif., native won five straight matches to reach the tournament’s singles finale, but ended up losing 6-2, 6-1. Generette is now 7-2 on the season.
“Stancu played a great match today. She's one of the best in the nation, and I wouldn't be surprised to see her win the NCAA's this year. We're confident Kiah will learn from today's match and continue to improve. This is just another step in the process for her.” - Joey Scrivano, head coach
The Lady Bears will next be in action on Nov. 7 at the Jack Kramer Club Invitational in Rolling Hills, Calif.
