WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s tennis senior Theresa Van Zyl gained valuable experience at the $80,000 Waco Showdown at Hurd Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
The Aroab, Namibia, native battled hard before bowing out to the tournament top seed and No. 105 nationally ranked Taylor Townsend of the U.S., 6-0, 6-0.
The Waco Showdown continues at Hurd Tennis Center through Nov. 12 and admission is free. Fans can watch the action beginning at 10 a.m. (CT) with the singles championship played at 1 p.m. on Nov. 12.
The Waco Showdown completes the fall competition slate. Baylor begins its spring regular season in January.
