ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. - Baylor women's tennis players Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankle advanced in singles action at the Jack Kramer Intercollegiate on Thursday. Meanwhile, Kiah Generette faltered in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, New York.
Seeded eighth in the tournament, Kisialeva defeated Jessica Perez of Loyola Marymount with a straight set, 6-2, 6-1, victory. She will go up against San Diego's Shani Blecher in the round of 16 on Friday.
Shankle, seeded 16th, beat Miya Jin of Loyola Marymount, 7-5, 7-5. The Dallas, Texas, native will advance to the third round where she will face Yuki Chiang of Pepperdine.
Mackenzie Craft could not get past Anna Depenau of San Diego and fell, 6-4, 6-2, in the second round of the tournament. She will play a consolation match vs. an opponent to be determined at 2 p.m. on Friday.
In doubles action, Kisialeva and Shankle, seeded No. 1, will take on San Diego duo, Anna Depenau and Mikayla Morkel-Brink Friday at 11 a.m.
Competing in the ITA Nationals, Generette was defeated in the first round by 60th-ranked Silvia Garcia of Georgia, 6-4, 6-0.
Generette will now face Georgia's third-seeded and third-ranked Lauren Herring at 1 p.m. on Saturday in consolation action.
