The fourth-ranked Baylor women's tennis team is set for its final preseason tune-ups as the Lady Bears travel to participate in the Freeman Memorial in Las Vegas, Nev. and the National Collegiate Tennis Classic in Palm Springs, Calif. The Lady Bears open the dual-match season by hosting the ITA National Indoor Qualifier against Princeton on Jan. 31.
Four Baylor players will be competing at the Freeman Memorial, where six of the top 10 teams in the latest ITA rankings will be represented. No. 19 Taylor Ormond is the fourth-seeded player in the tournament, while No. 32 Csilla Borsanyi is the No. 7 seed in the tournament. Lenka Broosova, injured for much of the fall season, and Jelena Stanivuk complete the Baylor lineup.
In doubles play, third-ranked Broosova and Borsanyi are listed as the No. 2 seed in the tournament, while Ormond and Stanivuk will compete as a doubles team.
The remaining four Baylor players will compete at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic, which includes defending national champion UCLA. All four Lady Bears will see action in singles play. Karolina Filipiak and Zuzana Chmelarova will combine for a doubles team, while newcomers Kasia Siwosz and Nina Secerbegovic will also pair together for doubles competition.
