WACO, Texas - Baylor women's tennis will host the first of nine Baylor Cub Tennis Program days this Saturday at 12 p.m. The free program is offered to children under the age of 11 to learn basic tennis skills from Baylor players and staff.
"In my experience tennis is a sport that is hard to pick up, but it's also very hard to put down once you get the hang of it," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "What we wanted to do was have a program that provided some consistency with giving kids an opportunity to not only get exposed to the game, but to actually develop some skills over the course of this program."
The program will be offered on nine different Saturdays and Sundays one-hour prior to women's home matches throughout the year. All tennis equipment will be provided, but athletic clothing including tennis shoes are required. The first two sessions will be held at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center with the remaining seven lesson days slated to be outside at the Hurd Tennis Center.
"We appreciate the contributions of the USTA Texas section and the Waco Tennis Association as we look grow this program," Scrivano said.
