WACO, Texas - Baylor's 19th-ranked women's tennis team will face four teams in the span of two days at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center and the Hurd Tennis Center on Saturday and Sunday.

The Lady Bears welcome No. 72 Ohio State at 1 p.m. and then Texas-Pan American at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both of those matches will be played indoors.

On Sunday, BU will take on Syracuse at noon at the Hurd Tennis Center, before facing Prairie View A&M at 5 p.m. back indoors.

"Right now all our attention is on Ohio State," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "This weekend is going to be a challenge because we have four opponents. We've got to focus on Ohio State and the second that match is over we've got to start thinking about UTPA and just on and on throughout the weekend."

After a win against Hawaii, 6-1, the Lady Bears are now 1-0 with ranked singles player Kiah Generette, who is 38th in the country and the doubles duo of Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankle, who are ranked 37th.

Ohio State will be playing its first match of the season against the Lady Bears. The two teams last played against each other in 2003 with the Buckeyes earning a 4-3 win.

Entering the weekend Baylor holds a 2-0 all-time record against the Broncs of UTPA. The last time the two teams met, the Lady Bears beat the Broncs 8-1 in 1991. This will also be UTPA's first match of the season.

Syracuse and Baylor will meet for the first time on Sunday. The Orange was defeated by USF in Tampa, Fla., 4-3, and will face TCU on Saturday before traveling down to Waco for the Sunday match.

To end the weekend Baylor will face Prairie View A&M. The Lady Bears are 3-0 all-time against the Lady Panthers dating back to 2009.

After this weekend's action, BU will face 49th-ranked Penn State in Waco on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m.

The team will host two sessions of the Baylor Cub Tennis Program this weekend. Children 11-years-old and under can come at noon on Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday to the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center to receive free basic tennis instruction
