WACO, Texas - The 19th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will face 49th-ranked Penn State at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
After going 4-0 in a pair of doubleheaders last weekend, the Lady Bears are now 5-0 on the season. This is the second time Baylor has started the season with five straight wins under head coach Joey Scrivano.
The No. 37 doubles team of Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankle is now 4-0 in dual-match play. Baylor has won every doubles point of the season with a 10-0 match record and in singles action the Lady Bears are 23-5.
BU's lone ranked singles player, Kiah Generette, is 38th in the latest ITA listings. She is 3-1 in dual-match play, while teammates Victoria Kisialeva, Jordaan Sanford and Blair Shankle are a perfect 4-0 on the season.
Penn State (3-0) enters the match after a win against Navy, 7-0. The Nittany Lions are 6-0 overall in doubles and 15-3 in singles action.
The Lady Bears hold a 2-0 all-time record against Penn State. The last time the teams met, Baylor defeated the Nittany Lions, 5-2, in Honolulu, Hawai'i, in 2012.
Baylor already owns a 1-0 record vs. ranked foes this season, after defeating No. 72 Ohio State on Jan. 18.
Following the match vs. Penn State, Baylor will be off until Saturday, Feb. 1, when No. 2 Florida comes to Waco.
