LUBBOCK, Texas - Baylor's 12th-ranked women's tennis team will open the Big 12 Conference schedule at No. 20 Texas Tech on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Baylor (11-3) enters the match off a 10-day break that followed a stretch matches against seven consecutive ranked opponents, including four in the top 10. The Lady Bears went 4-3 during the span with wins over No. 8 North Carolina and No. 9 Virginia on back-to-back days at the ITA Team Indoor Championship.

The Lady Bears have won 69 of their last 70 matches against Big 12 opponents, including a current string of 13 straight wins over league foes. The Lady Bears are 13-2 all-time in Big 12 openers and will put a streak of seven in a row on the line.

Baylor brings in a lineup that features a trio of seniors ranked in the singles top 50 and a top-50 ranked doubles tandem. In singles, Diana Nakic plays the top spot and is ranked No. 9, becoming the fifth BU player in the last six seasons to earn a top-10 ranking. Nakic is a team-leading 21-7 on the season, including eight wins over ranked opponents.

After Nakic, the next two spots in the lineup are held down by No. 32 Nina Secerbegovic and No. 47 Sona Novakova. Secerbegovic is 12-1 in dual-match singles play this season with three ranked wins, while Novakova holds an identical record also with three ranked wins.

Baylor singles lineup has also gotten solid production from freshmen Ema Burgic and Megan Horter. After missing the entire fall season and the first seven matches of the dual-match year, Burgic is 4-1 on the year with a 2-1 mark against ranked opponents. Horter has posted a 7-6 mark in dual-match singles play, but has excelled in doubles partnered with Secerbegovic.

The pair is ranked 46th nationally, and in four matches in the No. 1 doubles spot has a perfect 4-0 mark with one win over ranked opponent.

Texas Tech (8-2) is enjoying its highest ranking in program history, entering the match at No. 20. In the first computer ranking of the year released by the ITA earlier this week, the Red Raiders moved up 12 spots after posting two ranked wins last weekend. TTU has a 6-2 mark against ranked opponents on the year, with its highest win coming over then-No. 23 Ole Miss.

The Red Raiders' Elizabeth Ullathorne is ranked in singles at No. 122 with a 6-9 record, while the tandem of Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo is ranked No. 47 with a 13-9 overall mark.
