WACO, Texas - Baylor's No. 16 women's tennis team picks up conference play Friday at 5 p.m. hosting Kansas at the Baylor Tennis Center. The Bears return to action after defeating then-ranked No. 25 Virginia Commonwealth 6-0 last Sunday at home. Baylor holds an 11-6 overall mark, having won five of its last six matches, and a 4-1 Big 12 record. The Jayhawks enter the weekend with a record of 4-9 overall, including a 2-0 league mark.
Baylor leads the all-time series with Kansas 10-4 and has won the last five meetings. Head coach Joey Scrivano is undefeated against the Jayhawks, going 5-0 since arriving at Baylor in 2003.
Baylor earned wins on all six singles courts last week against VCU and courts two through six earned wins in straight sets. The wins helped the Bears create and continue singles win streaks. No. 49 Zuzana Cerna currently holds a six-match win streak including action on courts two and three. Iva Mihaylova also extended her streak to six matches with her wins spread across action on courts four, five and six. No. 28 Zuzana Zemenova and No. 93 Lenka Broosova enter the weekend with three-match win streaks.
The Bears also boast a doubles pair ranked by the ITA, No. 38 Broosova and Klara Zrustova.
