Women's Tennis Continues Home Stand against Long Time Foe Texas

WACO, Texas - Baylor's No. 16 women's tennis team host No. 36 Texas at 6 p.m. Wed., April 4 for its midweek match at the Baylor Tennis Center. The Bears currently boast a five-match win streak and also a five-match conference win streak. On the season Baylor owns an overall mark of 13-6 and a conference record of 6-1.

Additionally, with 31 straight home wins, Baylor has not lost a match in Waco since March 19, 2005, a 4-3 loss to Vanderbilt.

In Baylor's women's tennis history, the Bears have faced Texas 34 times, the most meetings against any opponent, and the Longhorns lead the overall series 29-3. Baylor didn't see its first win over Texas until 2005 but has since defeated UT in three of the last four meetings.

Individual Bears enter the week with streaks of their own and now three Bears have 20-plus wins on the season. Seniors No. 49 Zuzana Cerna (23-7) and Iva Mihaylova (23-9) have won eight straight singles matches while freshman No. 93 Lenka Broosova (26-8), the winningest Bear this season, increased her streak to five matches.

In Big 12 play three Bears are undefeated in singles action, Broosova (7-0), Klara Zrustova (4-0) and Zemenova (3-0).

In doubles Mihaylova and Zuzana Zemenova boast a five-match win streak remaining undefeated (5-0) on the season. Baylor's ranked pair, No. 38 Broosova and Zrustova, picked up a pair of wins as increased their overall record to 10-4.

No. 36 Texas enters the match 9-6 overall and 6-0 in conference. The Longhorns last handed Texas Tech a 6-1 loss in Lubbock, Texas, en route to remaining undefeated in league action. Two individual Longhorns are ranked in the singles poll, No. 61 Vanja Corovic and No. 115 Courtney Zauft.
