Women's Tennis Travels To No. 57 Kansas, No. 69 Kansas State

WACO, Texas -The 16th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will travel to the Sunflower State to face a pair of Big 12 foes. Continuing their Big 12 season, the Lady Bears will take on 57th-ranked Kansas at 3:30 p.m. on Friday in Lawrence, Kan., before facing 59th-ranked Kansas State at 11 a.m. on Sunday in Manhattan, Kan.

Most recently, Baylor (15-6, 4-0) defeated TCU, 4-3, on Wednesday in Fort Worth, Texas. Baylor secured the doubles point for the fifth straight match, which helped the Lady Bears remain undefeated in conference action.

The 40th-ranked tandem of Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankleis BU's most successful paring owning a 10-3 mark overall.

On the singles side, the 34th ranked Kiah Generette is 12-7 and 3-1 in Big 12 play. Baylor's lineup also features No. 48 Jordaan Sanford, No. 74 Ema Burgic and No. 103 Blair Shankle. Sanford has won 10 matches in a row, improving her record to a 16-2 in dual-match play. Burgic and Shankle have together compiled a 21-7 record overall.

Kansas is coming off a 7-0 loss against Oklahoma at home. The match dropped the Jayhawks to an 11-6 overall and 2-2 in Big 12 action. Kansas has a 5-3 record at home.

Baylor leads 18-4 in the all-time series against the Jayhawks. The last time these two teams met, BU defeated Kansas, 4-0, in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Championship on April 26, 2013.

Kansas State (8-8, 2-2) enters the weekend after losing to OSU, 5-2, at home. No. 56 Petra Niedermayerova leads the team with a 12-2 record at the top of the lineup. In doubles, Niedermayerova and partner Amina St. Hill have compiled a 7-3 record at the No. 1 spot.

Before taking on Baylor on Sunday, the Wildcats will face Texas on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the K-State Tennis Stadium.

The Lady Bears are 16-4 in the all-time series against Kansas State. The last time these two teams met, BU defeated the Wildcats, 4-3, on April 7, 2013 at the Hurd Tennis Center.

After the weekend, Baylor will travel to Houston, Texas, to take on Rice at the Jake Hees Tennis Stadium at 1 p.m. on April 9.
