WACO, Texas - Important home matches are on tap for both of Baylor's tennis teams this week. The men's team will host the University of Texas (14-7) on Wednesday, April 7 at 6 p.m., at the Baylor tennis center while the women's team plays host to the Texas A&M Aggies (15-6) on Thursday, April 8 at 6 p.m.

The women's match will be a battle of defending co-Big 12 champions as the two teams tied for the conference regular-season title last year. The Baylor men's squad is seeking its third straight Big 12 title and fourth in five years. They won the league in 2000, 2002 (7-0) and 2003 (7-0).

The Baylor women, 8-8 on the season, are led by freshman Carolin Walter who is 20-8 so far in singles. Sophomore Iva Mihaylova needs just one more victory to reach the 20-win mark, she is 19-9 so far.

Baylor (19-2) and Texas' men squads are both undefeated in league action, second-ranked Baylor is 4-0 while the Longhorns are 5-0. The 7-0 Aggie women come to town sharing first place with the Longhorn women, while the Lady Bears are third in the league standings with a 4-1 Big 12 record.

Benjamin Becker will bring a 10-match winning streak into the Texas contest, he is 31-8 on the season and 4-0 in league competition. At 98 career singles wins, the junior needs just one more victory to tie former Bear Zoltan Papp for career singles victories. Three more Bears have 20 or more victories under their belt this season. Benedkit Dorsch is 25-6 on the year while Ivor Lovrak is 23-6 and Matija Zgaga is 23-6 as well. In doubles, Becker and Marin bring an eight-match win streak to the court, they are 14-2 on the season and 12-1 in dual matches.
