WACO, Texas -The 17th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will travel to Houston to take on the 21st-ranked Rice Owls at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Jake Hess Tennis Center.
"Rice is always a tough match for us," head coach Joey Scrivanosaid. "They're having another tremendous season. We're excited to play a top-25 team late in the season. They can only help us improve down the stretch."
Most recently, Baylor (17-6, 6-0) defeated Kansas State, 5-1, on Sunday in Manhattan, Kan. Baylor secured five of the six singles matches, but did not finish doubles play due to a travel curfew. Baylor's 56th-ranked Jordaan Sanford and No. 116 Blair Shankleeach won their 12th straight decision of the season.
BU's most successful doubles paring is the 33rd-ranked tandem of Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankle, owning a 10-3 mark overall. Generette and Burgic follow the duo with a 6-1 in dual-match play and 4-0 mark in conference action.
Rice (13-5) is coming off a 6-1 victory over No. 31 DePaul, which improved the Owls record to 6-2 at home. Rice has three ranked singles players in their lineup: No. 82 Katherine Ip, No. 103 Natalie Beazant and No. 109 Dominique Harmath. In doubles, No. 48 Beazant and Liat Zimmermann lead the team with a 7-4 mark in dual-match play.
The last time these two teams met, BU defeated Rice, 6-1, on February 8, 2013, at the Hurd Tennis Center. The Lady Bears are 7-12 in the all-time series against the Owls.

After the match against Rice, BU will return home to face Oklahoma State at 5 p.m. on Friday at the Hurd Tennis Center.
