The Bears begin their four-game Big 12 road trip this weekend when they face #66 Nebraska, and # 43 Colorado on Thursday and Sunday.
Baylor enters their match against the Cornhuskers in a first place tie with Texas as of April 9. The Bears have four games remaining in Big 12 play, all of which are on the road. The Cornhuskers come into Thursday's match with a 10-7 record, but a disappointing 1-6 Big 12 record. Colorado enters Sunday match with a 10-6 record and a 3-5 Big 12 record and are two places behind Baylor in the national rankings.
In singles play this week, Daria Potapova ended her nine-game winning streak when she was narrowly defeated by #44 Jenny Kuhn of Tulane 1-6, 7-5, 8-9. Potapova has won 13 of her last 15 matches. Vida Mulec stunned #27 Julie Smekodub on Saturday, winning 4-6, 7-5, 9-7. Mulec also entered the national rankings for the first time since March 12, coming in at #89.
In doubles action, Coach Joey Scrivano paired up Stephanie Balzert and Vida Mulec for the first time since this fall against Tulane. They came up short in the No. 2 spot against #9 Jenny Kuhn and Jenny Smekodub 8-6. Barbora Blahutiakova and Izabela Mijic were also paired up for the first time since the fall and they defeated Erika Valdes and Ana Saaibi 8-5.
The Bears' take to the road this week to take on the Huskers and the Buffaloes on Thursday and Sunday. Results can be accessed at baylorbears.com.
- The Bears' 2003 spring schedule pits them against 19 ranked teams, three of which are currently in the top 20.
-The Women's tennis team is 26-10 in its two-year history at the Baylor Tennis Center.
-Daria Potapova has won 13 out of her last 15 dual matches in the spring season which currently leads the team.
