WACO, Texas - Baylor's women's tennis team travels to Texas A&M Wednesday for a 6 p.m. conference match at the Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas. The Bears improved their overall mark to 16-6 and their Big 12 record to 7-1 with last week's wins.
Baylor has won nine of its last 10 matches including a current seven-match win streak. In conference action the Bears have won six straight contests.
Against the Aggies, BU has won the last four meetings though Texas A&M owns a 20-11 lead in the all-time series. And in Big 12 play, the Bears are 10-5 against the Aggies since the conference began in 1997. The Bears' last loss to Texas A&M was a 6-1 loss April 8, 2004 in Waco, Texas. The match marks the last time Baylor lost a regular season home conference match. Baylor's head coach Joey Scrivano is 5-1 against the Aggies.
In Baylor tennis action last week, the Bears picked up a pair of wins over top-ranked teams. BU defeated long time rival Texas 6-1 and east coast-foe Pepperdine 4-3. During the week, senior Klara Zrustova earned her 100th win as a Bear. No. 77 Lenka Broosova raised her team-leading record to 28-8 and won her seventh consecutive match while No. 54 Zuzana Cerna extended her singles win streak to 10.
Two Aggies appear in the singles poll, No. 17 Anna Lubinsky and No. 87 Elze Potgieter, and two duos appear in the doubles poll, No. 34 Nicki Mechem and Lubinsky and No. 46 Tiffany Clifford and Sarah Foster.
