WACO, Texas -The 17th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team welcomes a pair of Big 12 foes to the Hurd Tennis Center over the next three days. Continuing conference action, the Lady Bears will take on No. 23 Oklahoma State at 5 p.m. on Friday, before facing 18th-ranked Oklahoma at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
At Friday's match, the first 100 fans will receive free pizza and t-shirts. On Sunday, Baylor's four seniors will be recognized between doubles and singles. One hour prior to both matches, a free tennis clinic for children 12 and under will be held.
Baylor (18-6, 6-0) recently got past No. 21 Rice, 4-3, on Wednesday at the Jake Hess Tennis Center in Houston. BU secured the doubles point and won three of the six singles matches. Baylor's 56th-ranked Jordaan Sanford and No. 116 Blair Shankleeach won their 13th-straight decision of the season.
BU's most successful paring is the 33rd-ranked tandem of Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankle, owning a 10-3 mark at the No. 1 spot. The Lady Bears collectively own a 13-2 doubles record in Big 12 play.
Oklahoma State (12-5, 6-0) is coming off a 7-0 victory against West Virginia. The 78th-ranked Viktoriya Lushkova leads the Cowgirls with a 14-2 mark in dual-match play and a 5-1 record in conference action.
Oklahoma State's lineup also features 49th-ranked Kanyapat Narattana and Viktoriya Lushkova. The tandem has compiled an 11-1 mark in dual-match play at the No. 1 spot.
The Lady Bears lead 17-5 in the all-time series against the Cowgirls. The last time these two teams met, BU was defeated by Oklahoma State, 4-3, on April 27, 2013, in the semifinal round of the Big 12 Championships.
Before taking on BU, the Sooners will face No. 22 Texas at 6 p.m. on Friday in Austin, Texas. Recently, Oklahoma (15-3, 5-1) shutout Iowa State, 7-0.
The Lady Bears lead 17-3 in the all-time series against the Sooners. The last time these two teams met, BU downed Oklahoma, 6-1, on April 13, 2013 at the Headington Family Tennis Center. Whitney Ritchie leads the Sooners with a 16-1 mark in dual-match play. Ritchie and Mia Lancaster are OU's most successful pair, owning an 11-4 mark at the No. 1 spot.
With victories over both Oklahoma State and Oklahoma, Baylor would clinch at least a share of the Big 12 regular season title.
