WACO, Texas - Baylor junior women's tennis player Csilla Borsanyi was named the Big 12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. This marks Borsanyi's first-career weekly honor.
The weekly award marks the fourth this season for Baylor as the Lady Bears have claimed four of six of the league's player of the week honors. Lenka Broosova has been named player of the week on three occasions this season.
Borsanyi helped third-ranked Baylor to a 6-1 win over No. 31 Texas, in a battle of the top teams in the conference. With the win, Baylor claims first place outright in the Big 12.
No. 74 Borsanyi claimed a 6-3, 6-0 win over Krista Damico on court three to clinch the match for the Lady Bears. She runs her dual-match season record to 12-5 overall, and has won nine straight matches. Borsanyi and Broosova, ranked No. 16 nationally in doubles, rolled over No. 25 Vanja Corovic and Marija Milic, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles to help Baylor claim the doubles point.
Baylor returns to action on Wednesday as the Lady Bears travel to College Station to face No. 33 Texas A&M.
