Baylor women's tennis senior Jordaan Sanford
was named the Most Improved Senior for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Texas Region on Tuesday.
Sanford, a Diamond Bar, Calif., native, has tallied a 27-5 record in singles play over the course of her final year. She is 22-3 in dual-match action and has won 16 of her last 17 decisions.
Last week, Sanford earned her second straight All-Big 12 singles honor and first all-conference doubles distinction. She was 9-0 in Big 12 singles play, capturing the No. 3 position championship. Sanford is currently No. 46 in the ITA singles rankings.
She partnered with Victoria Kisialeva to nab all-league doubles honors. The duo has a 7-5 record as a tandem and competed at the top of BU's lineup during the latter stages of the season.
For her efforts, Sanford garnered a spot in the NCAA Singles Championships, which take place in Athens, Ga., following the conclusion of the team championships on May 20.
The Lady Bears continue their run in the NCAA Championships with a round of 16 match vs. No. 4 Virginia on Thursday at 11 a.m. CT at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Baylor University is home to the 2015 NCAA Tennis Championships. The final 16 men's and women's teams will descend on Waco in May 2015 for the event. Following the team competition, individual singles and doubles championships will also take place at the Hurd Tennis Center.
