Women's Tennis Set For NCAA Individual Championships

WACO, Texas - Two Baylor women's tennis players, Kiah Generette and Jordaan Sanford, will begin their run in the NCAA Singles Championship on Wednesday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.

Meanwhile, Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankle will open the NCAA Doubles Championships on Thursday.

In singles, Generette will take on Yanna Koroleva of Clemson at 2:30 p.m. CT. This season, Generette is 22-15 overall and 15-11 in dual-match play. The Signal Hill, Calif., native, is ranked No. 40 in the latest ITA singles listings. Generette's foe, Koroleva, is 26-9 on the season and is No. 34 in the ITA singles listings.

Sanford will face eighth-seeded Jennifer Brady of UCLA at 3:30 p.m. Sanford, a senior from Diamond Bar, Calif., is 27-5 overall in singles play and 22-3 in dual-match action. She has won 16 of her last 17 decisions. Sanford's opponent, Brady is ranked No. 8 in the country and has a 36-7 record on the season.

In doubles, Kisialeva and Shankle will battle Catherine Harrison and Kyle McPhillips of UCLA on Thursday.

Kisialeva and Shankle have not played a match together since March 19, but the duo was still ranked No. 34 by the ITA. Before teaming up with different partners, the pairing was 19-5 on the season and 10-3 in dual-match play. Kisialeva was selected to the doubles' tournament a year ago, but was unable to compete when her partner, Ema Burgic, was injured.

UCLA's Harrison and McPhillips have a 24-3 record and are ranked No. 9 in the country.
