Tennis Begins NCAA Singles and Doubles Play

Athens, Ga. - Now that the NCAA Tennis Team Championships are completed, the singles and doubles competitions are set to begin at the Dan McGill Tennis Campus at the University of Georgia.

Three Baylor players will compete in singles beginning on Wednesday, May 23 with the round of 64. Lars Poerschke, ranked No. 11, will take on 53rd-ranked Daniel Vallverdu of Miami at noon (CDT). On the women's side, beginning a 9 a.m. (CDT), 18th-ranked Zuzana Zemenova will match up against 17th-ranked Anne Yelsey of Stanford. Zuzana Cerna, No. 49, will have her hands full when she takes on the tournament's No. 7 seed, Natalie Frazier of Georgia at 2:30 p.m. (CDT). Michal Kokta was an at-large selection to the tournament but elected to withdraw after the Bears were eliminated from the team competition.

Doubles competition begins on Thursday, May 24 with Matija Zgaga and David Galic as the only Baylor doubles team competing. The 25th-ranked tandem will play No. 21 Alexandru Cojanu and Colin O'Brien of William and Mary.
