Athens, Ga. -
Junior Zuzana Zemenova won her round of 32 match at the NCAA Singles Championships at the Dan McGill Tennis Campus at the University of Georgia, and in doing so, earned All-American honors for the third straight year.
Zemenova, ranked No. 18, downed Vanderbilt's Amanda Taylor in three sets. The match didn't start off like Zemenova had envisioned, with a 2-6 loss. However, the Baylor junior rallied to take the final two sets 6-3, 6-3. Zemenova will now take on third-ranked Melanie Gloria of Fresno State on Friday in the round of 16.
"ZZ found a way to win today against an extremely tough opponent. Taylor came out on fire and really forced ZZ to pick up her level of play. Tomorrow ZZ will be facing a outstanding player in Melanie Gloria and it should be a great match."
Live scoring and results will be posted on the internet on both the University of Georgia Athletic Association's official web site www.georgiadogs.com and at ncaasports.com.
