The Baylor women's tennis team is ranked sixth in the nation according to the final Campbell's/ITA rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association this week.
In addition to its No. 6 overall ranking, the Lady Bears had five singles players and two doubles teams included in the final rankings.
Baylor finished the season with a 27-5 overall record and an appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Lady Bears finished 11-0 in Big 12 action, claiming their fifth-straight conference regular season title. They went on to win their fourth-straight Big 12 tournament championship. All five of Baylor's losses this season came by a 4-3 score.
Leading the way for Baylor in the rankings was junior Lenka Broosova, who ended the season with a No. 35 national ranking. Broosova finished the year at 31-7 overall, including a 26-3 mark in dual matches. She also tallied a 10-5 record against ranked opponents and finished the season with a 19-match winning streak in dual matches.
Jelena Stanivuk was ranked No. 47 in the final rankings after compiling a 34-7 overall record, including a 25-2 mark in dual matches. Her current dual-match win streak sits at 17 straight wins. Stanivuk finished the season with a 10-5 record against ranked opponents.
Taylor Ormond follows Stanivuk with a No. 48 national ranking following a 27-23 sophomore campaign, including a 13-15 record in dual matches. Ormond tallied a team-high 14 wins against ranked opponents.
Csilla Borsanyi earned a No. 68 ranking in the final standings after finishing the season with a 32-11 overall record, including 22-6 in dual match play. Borsanyi led the team with a 10-0 record in Big 12 play and tallied six wins against ranked opponents.
Mid-term freshman Nina Secerbegovic made her debut in the Campbell's/ITA rankings with a No. 123 ranking to finish the season. Secerbegovic tallied a 24-3 record overall, including a 24-1 mark in dual matches. She finished the season with a 21-match winning streak, all in dual matches.
Borsanyi and Broosova earned a final ranking of ninth in the nation following a run to the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championships. The Lady Bears lost to eventual national champion Mari Andersson and Jana Juricova of California. The pair finished with a 27-14 overall record, including a 17-9 mark in dual matches and 14 wins against ranked opponents.
Stanivuk and Ormond finished the season with a No. 56 national ranking after finishing the season with a 25-12 overall record. The duo compiled a 21-7 record in dual matches and defeated four ranked opponents.
