WACO, Texas – Baylor head women’s tennis coach Joey Scrivano announced the addition of Dominika Sujova to the 2017-18 roster on Friday morning.
A native of Topalcany, Slovakia, Sujova has been rated as high as No. 3 nationally and possesses a No. 132 International Tennis Federation (ITF) ranking. She won the ITF G4 in Zilma, Slovakia, was a finalist in the ITF G4 in Maribor, Slovenia, and ITF G3 in Kiryat Shmoma, Israel, and a semifinalist in the ITF G2 in Prague, Czech Republic.
“We are excited to continue Baylor’s tradition of successful Slovak tennis players with the addition of Dominika. She is an outstanding young lady, and her accomplishments at the junior level speak for themselves. Dominika has the competitive drive to compete at this level. She’s a great fit for our program and has a very bright future at Baylor,” Scrivano said.
Sujova, a two-time singles and three-time doubles regional champion, has advanced to win three singles national championships and two doubles national championships in Slovakia. She also competed in the European Championship as an individual and secured a first place team finish at the World Championship.
Sujova bolsters the Lady Bears’ roster following the transfer of sophomore Elizabeth Profit, who will continue her collegiate career at Tennessee.
“We always want the best for our student-athletes and wish Liz nothing but the best. We know she is in good hands at Tennessee with Alison Ojeda,” Scrivano said.
