SKILLMAN, N.J. - Baylor women's tennis player Jordaan Sanford and pair of the squad's doubles teams earned spots in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason rankings, which were released on Friday.
As the lone BU player in the singles rankings, Sanford, is listed at No. 119. The junior from Diamond Bar, Calif. produced a 23-8 record last season for the Lady Bears, while battling injuries much of the year. In dual-match play, the junior was 15-4 with all her matches coming at the No. 3, 4 and 5 spots.
In doubles, two returnees partner with two newcomers to give Baylor its representation in the top-75 collegiate tandems. Ema Burgic and freshman Victoria Kisialeva are listed at No. 11, while Megan Horter and junior transfer Alex Leatu are ranked No. 54.
Along with its preseason rankings, the ITA also announced the selections for the 2012 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships to be held for the 28th year at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. The national event is set to begin on Saturday, Sept. 29 with pre-qualifying singles and doubles matches, which will once again be hosted by UCLA. Main draw action is slated for Thursday, Oct. 4-Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Riviera Tennis Club.
Both Sanford and Burgic will play in the pre-qualifying singles draw and the main draw of the doubles event. The pair won its only match together last season.
