WACO, Texas - Four Baylor women's tennis players will open up the fall season by taking part in The Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational Friday through Sunday in Midland, Texas.
"We are excited to be kicking off the fall season with The Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "Midland puts on a tremendous tournament and we are glad to be invited each year. This event gives our players and coaches an opportunity to gauge where we stand right now. Each player is learning what they need to do to be successful. Fall events are part of the developmental process and are invaluable."
Two BU veterans, Kiah Generette and Victoria Kisialeva, along with two newcomers, Makenzie Craft and Blair Shankle, will be part of the 64-man singles draw. Generette will also pair with Craft and Kisialeva will team with Shankle to compete in the 32-team doubles draw.
Generette is seeded 14th in the singles draw and will face Texas State's Katy Collins in the first round. Last season as a freshman, Generette was 16-10 in singles play, but finished the season winning eight of her last 10 matches.
Kisialeva is the No. 9 seed in singles and will face Paulina Los of Kansas in first round action. The BU sophomore is currently ranked 114th in the country. She produced a 14-19 mark and an 8-7 record in dual-match play.
Craft played last year at Georgia, tallying a 17-11 mark overall and a 10-3 record in dual-match play. She will face Penn State's Samantha Tutelmann in first round action.
Shankle, a highly-decorated freshman, will open her collegiate career vs. Rongrong Leenabanchong of Tulsa as the No. 11 seed.
