WACO, Texas– A trio of Baylor women’s tennis players will make the short trip to Fort Worth, Texas, for the USTA/ITA Texas Regional from Friday-Tuesday at TCU’s Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The talented field will be vying for one singles and one doubles qualifying spot in the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championship early next month.
“This is another chance to play top-level competition, and keep working on the things we need to do to get better,” head coach Joey Scrivano said. “There will be some great competition at this tournament, and a lot is on the line with chance to advance to the indoor nationals.”
Baylor will have three singles entries, including two seeded, and one seeded pair in doubles. Senior Diana Nakic, carrying a 7-3 record in two tournaments this fall, is seeded fourth in the field. Sophomore Jordaan Sanford is seeded fifth and has a 2-2 record. Nakic and Sanford will be joined by BU freshman Megan Horter, who enters unseeded.
In doubles, Nakic and Sanford will join forces for the first time, earning the field’s No. 3 seed. Nakic had paired with Horter last weekend for a 1-1 record, while Sanford previously paired with Nicole Kosakowski this season and compiled 2-2 mark with a berth in the HEB Baylor Invite final.
Baylor will be play on the campus of TCU beginning on Friday, Oct. 21, with the tournament running through the finals on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
