WACO, Texas - Baylor women's tennis sophomore Kiah Generette will travel to Flushing, New York, to compete in the UTSA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center Thursday through Sunday.
"Kiah is working very hard and it's showing on the court," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "The key for her is to stay focused on the process and not get away from that. The national indoor event is just another opportunity for her to work on her game."
Generette will face eighth-seeded and 60th-ranked Silvia Garcia of Georgia in the first round, which begins Thursday at 9 a.m.
Hosted by Columbia University, this event serves as the culmination of the fall college tennis season and will feature a 32-player singles draw.
With a record of 7-2 for the season, the Signal Hill, Calif., native earned an at-large selection to the event. She missed automatically qualifying, after dropping the singles title match in the USTA/ITA Texas Regionals last month.
Generette has a 2-2 record against ranked foes this year.
