Anthony Avillanoza is in his seventh season with the Baylor volleyball team, and his fourth as a volunteer assistant coach. He previously served a team manager.
Avillanoza works primarily with the liberos and defensive specialists and will assist with all on-court training.
He was a five-year member of the Baylor men's club volleyball team as the libero and earned 2005 first-team All-Southern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association honors and 2004 second-team All-SIVA honors. The team finished second in the conference each of the last two years and posted a 12-match winning streak last year.
Avillanoza was a Waco Juniors Developmental Program Coach in the spring of 2006, was a coach at the Debbie Sokol Volleyball Camp in Houston from 2002-05 and has coached at the Baylor Volleyball Camp each of the last two summers.
Born in Manila, Phillippines, Avillanoza began playing volleyball at age 10 and moved to the United States in 1994. He has a brother and a sister, four nephews and one niece - all currently residing in Houston.
