ARLINGTON, Texas -
Baylor opened the 1999 volleyball season with a
15-6, 15-11, 15-5 sweep of defending Southland
Conference champion Texas-Arlington Wednesday in
Arlington.
The Bears' Kia Young recorded 10 kills, 13 digs
and two blocks to lead BU over a team that reached
the NCAA Tournament last year.
Tatiana Kenon and Elisha Polk contributed 10 kills
each and Dan Chuha accounted for 40 assists.
Baylor hit .321 and limited UTA to a .131 hitting
percentage. The Bears held a 48-31 edge in kills
and 52-37 advantage in digs.
Baylor (1-0) now heads to Arkansas State for a
tournament this weekend. The home opener is Sept.
17-18 in the Baylor Invitational.
