Polk Leads BU To Tourney Win




Sept. 3-4, 1999

JONESBORO, Ark. - Led by Most Valuable Player Elisha Polk, Baylor recorded a 4-0 record at the Arkansas State Classic in Jonesboro Friday and Saturday.

The Bears did not lose a game all weekend and went to 5-0 in match play on the season with the following wins:

3-0 over Jackson State (15-1, 15-2, 15-0),

3-0 over Arkansas State (15-13, 15-6, 15-10),

3-0 over Belmont (15-8, 15-3, 15-8) and

3-0 over New Mexico (15-2, 15-8, 15-7).

In addition to MVP Polk, Kia Young and Sunny Nicholas were named to the All-Tournament team.

Nicholas notched 11 kills against Jackson State while Kirsten Berg had seven. Dana Chuha accounted for 21 assists.

In the Arkansas State match, Polk had 13 kills and Nicholas 10. Chuha recorded 44 assists.

Nicholas was credited with eight kills against Belmont while Polk had 13 in the New Mexico match.

Baylor has yet to lose a game this season. In five matches the Bears have played only 15 games.
