GREELEY, Colo. - Baylor's volleyball team dropped to 0-3 to start the season for the first time since 2002 as Northern Colorado (2-0) dropped the Bears in three sets Saturday night at the Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion. The CSU Bears won 25-20, 25-16, 25-21 led by Kendra Cunningham's 13 kills.
Baylor was swept for the second time in as many nights, and Thea Munch-Soegaard had 11 kills in the losing effort. The visitors hit .164 in the loss with Laura Jones adding 10 kills and Amy Rosenbaum pacing Baylor's effort with 33 assists. Munch-Soegaard had 11 digs for a double-double.
The Bears led 11-9 in the third set fighting to force a fourth set, however after a timeout, the CSU Bears scored five of the next six points in the set and never looked back.
Thea Munch-Soegaard had the first double-double of the season for a Baylor player with 11 kills and 11 digs.
Laura Jones had her first double-digit kill match with 10 and hit .292.
STAT OF THE GAME I
2002 - The last time Baylor started the season 0-3. Jim Barnes' Baylor teams had never started the season at 0-2 before Saturday's loss to Cal Poly, and the skid continued with the loss to UNC.
STAT OF THE GAME II
11 - Combined errors in the match for Baylor. Four service errors, four receiving errors, two blocking errors and one ball handling error hindered the Bears' efforts.
Baylor's cruel road trip comes in favor of a four-game homestand that begins Tuesday night as the Bears play host to SMU at the Ferrell Center at 6 p.m.
