WACO, Texas - Baylor made a valiant effort but fell short in a four-set loss to Texas State Tuesday night at Strahan Coliseum. The Bears dropped the first two sets, took the third and battled in set four, but Texas State snapped a six-match losing skid to Baylor by taking a 25-15, 25-19, 20-25, 26-24 victory.
Amari Deardorff led the Bobcats with 12 kills including the winning kill from the rightside in the fourth set to seal the victory. Texas State last defeated Baylor Sept. 13, 1996 before Tuesday night's victory. The Bobcats jumped out to a 6-0 lead in set four before the Bears battled back to take a 13-12 lead. Eventually Baylor overcame a 21-17 deficit and served set point at 24-23. However, Texas State scored the final three points of the match highlighted by Deardorff's match-winning kill.
Zoe Adom matched a career high with 20 kills in the losing effort, and Thea Munch-Soegaard recorded her second-straight double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs.

- Thea Munch-Soegaard recorded her second consecutive double-double and the seventh of her career with 14 kills and 12 digs
- Baylor overcame deficits of 6-0 and 21-17 in the fourth set, but fell short.
- Mackenzie Mayo recorded a season-high 22 digs and was one shy of her career high.

1996 - The last time Texas State defeated Baylor. The Bobcats defeated Baylor on neutral floor Sept. 13, 1996 before the Bears took six-straight from Texas State heading into Tuesday night's match.
The Bears will take on Northwestern State at 12;30 p.m. Friday, Appalachian State Friday at 7 p.m. and Colorado at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Baylor Invitational.
