AUSTIN, Texas - Baylor (16-8, 3-6) was three points from sending the match to a fifth set, but a six-point comeback gave No. 8 Texas (17-3, 9-0) the 3-1 win (25-18, 20-25, 25-9, 25-22) in Austin Wednesday night. The Bears second-set win was their first in Austin since falling 3-2 on Oct. 6, 2006 .

Baylor became just the second team to take a set off Texas this Big 12 season.

"I love the way our team competed," head coach Jim Barnes said. "Our serve-receive let us down in the end, but when we stuck to the game plan we went toe-to-toe with them. Our girls were upset for letting the lead slip in the fourth, but give Texas credit for a good comeback to close it out."

Zoe Adom led the way with 13 kills, as seven came in the fourth set, to go with a .545 hitting percentage. Tori Cox finished with nine kills, while Alyssa Dibbern added eight. Hope Ogden notched 12 digs, while Kate Harris totaled 11 to go with 42 assists and her 12th double-double. Adrien Richburg came away with three blocks, while Baylor totaled five on the day.

The Longhorns leaped out to a 7-2 lead in set two, but Baylor was able to battle back and pull within one, 11-10 off an attacking error from Bailey Webster. That was as close as BU could get however, as UT pulled away for a 25-18 win in set one. Dibbern led the way with five kills in the opening set.

Baylor was the aggressors in set two, hitting .303 against Texas in the second stanza and claiming a 25-20 win to even the match. With UT holding a 12-10 lead, the Bears went on a 5-0 run to take the 15-12 advantage, never giving Texas the lead back. Baylor was able to maintain control of the pace and play the rest of the way, as Campbell closed the set with a kill and a 25-20 win.

The Longhorns answered back with a 25-9 win in set three, as Baylor hit -.226 in the stanza, falling behind 2-1.

Baylor opened set four with three-straight kills, all from Adom who ended with seven in the set. Leading 17-13, Baylor upheld the lead to 22-19 and was three points from forcing a decisive fifth set. But Baylor's passing would falter, as an ace and a bad set allowed Texas back in the set and the Longhorns answered with six-straight points to come from behind for the 25-22 win.

"That match was a positive and a stinger for us," Barnes said. "We have to take the positives and know we can compete with anybody, anywhere the rest of the way."

Baylor will remain on the road for a 7 pm match at No. 16 Kansas State Saturday in Manhattan.
