WACO, Texas – Iowa State’s (14-6, 8-2) defense collected 71 digs and eight blocks holding Baylor (11-15, 3-7) to just a .056 hitting percentage in the Cyclones’ 25-16, 25-16, 25-16 victory over the Bears Saturday night at the Ferrell Center. Kristen Hahn, the Big 12’s leader in digs, had 26 digs to lead a stifling defensive effort for ISU’s ninth-straight win over Baylor.
Hahn came into the match averaging just under six digs per set, but the senior libero went above and beyond Saturday averaging 8.67 per set. Jenelle Hudson added 16 for ISU, and the Cyclones out-dug Baylor 71-49.
No Baylor player had more than six kills with Laura Jones and Nicole Bardaji recording half a dozen apiece. The Bears had 25 kills and 18 errors on 124 attempts.
Offensively, ISU’s Tory Knuth had 10 kills to lead the Cyclones while Hudson had a double-double with 31 assists to add to her 16 digs. ISU hit .270 for the match and also recorded eight service aces.
- Bardaji needed just one kill to reach 200 for her career in Saturday night’s match; her six kills leaves her with 205 headed into the Bears’ next match.

“I thought Iowa State was a very good team, but they were ready to be picked off, and if we could have just sustained our service game and our serve receive game, I thought we could put a lot of pressure on them. But, we couldn’t be consistent in either of those categories.”
Baylor is idle Wednesday and will take on TCU Nov. 9 in Fort Worth.
