WACO, Texas -
The Baylor Volleyball team assisted with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Annual Bowling Event Saturday at Westview Lanes in Waco. Baylor players Kelly Spriggs, Heather Marcus, Adeline Meira, Nicole LeBlanc, Maggie Chlebana, Desiree Guilliard-Young, Krystle Everett, Deja Sweeney, Kristen Schramek, Stella Odion and Emily Huston participated in the event.
The girls were in charge of taking pictures of the kids, selling tickets for a raffle and serving pizza. They also enjoyed meeting the kids with their big brothers and sisters while they were bowling.
Wendy Callon, Board President for the past four years, said "Being a part of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization is truly infectious."
"When you get involved you see that what you do for these kids is so important, not only for the kids, but for the volunteers and board members as well."
Callon got involved with the program because she believes everybody needs somebody who believes in them.
"It's the small moments that make a big difference, tripled in growth over 5 years."
Freshman player Krystle Everett said, "Helping with this event is really cool because we get a chance to meet these kids and maybe have an influence on their lives."
Junior Stella Odion enjoys helping with events likes these. She said "It is a really good opportunity to strengthen the relationship between Baylor and the Waco community."
