Volleyball Signs Brenner to Letter of Intent

April 1, 2008

WACO, Texas - The Baylor volleyball has signed Krista Brenner to a national letter of intent, head coach Jim Barnes announced on Tuesday. Brenner will join the program over the summer and will be eligible for the 2008 season as a redshirt freshman.

Brenner, a middle blocker and right-side hitter from Valley Springs, Calif., joins Baylor after competing at Tennessee during her freshman season. She participated in one game for the Lady Vols before suffering a season-ending injury.

Brenner was rated as the No. 52 player in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com as a high school senior. She was a five-year letterwinner at Jim Elliot Christian School in Lodi, Calif. where she led her team to three straight playoff appearances. Brenner played club volleyball for the Delta Valley Volleyball Club 18-Blue team which earned a bronze medal at the 2007 Junior Olympics in Atlanta, Ga.

"Krista will be a great addition to our team," said Barnes. "She was ranked as the No. 52 recruit in 2007 and she excels at blocking and hitting the ball hard at a high point. She will be able to compete on the right-side and the middle for our team and will help us continue our tradition of great blocking. She has great character and will be a good fit here at Baylor."

Baylor won all four of its matches in its first spring tournament held at the McLane Student Life Center last weekend. The Bears return to action at the Texas Tornado Club tournament in Houston, Texas on April 12. Baylor will play its final spring tournament at the SLC on April 26.
