WACO, Texas - With Jeremiah Tiffin's recent promotion from director of operations to assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, Baylor University head volleyball coach Jim Barnes announced Sam Erger Monday as the team's director of operations.
Erger comes to Baylor from Hill College where she was the head coach in Hillsboro, Texas for one season in 2013. She helped the Lady Rebels to a 29-9 mark and led the program to their first national tournament since 2001.
Prior to Hill College, Erger had experience in Ohio as a club coach and was a four-year letterman at Bowling Green State University as a setter (Sam Fish). Following her playing career she coached various club teams in Toledo, Bowling Green and Findlay, Ohio. She also served as the graduate assistant for the University of Findlay for the 2011-13 seasons.
"We are very fortunate and blessed to add a quality person with outstanding experience as a player, coach and FCA leader," Barnes said. "She has a big future in our sport and she will have a very positive impact on our program."
Erger is married to James Erger, who served on the men's basketball staff as an assistant coach at Dallas Baptist University during the 2013-14 season. Both have been involved as FCA leaders in their respective colleges.
Tiffin was promoted to assistant coach after the departure of former assistant Mark Pryor, who took the head coaching job at North Dakota in the offseason.
