Baylor senior outside hitter Zoe Adom was selected to the 2013 Big 12 Preseason Volleyball Team Tuesday. Adom ranked fifth among Big 12 hitters last season in kills-per-set, averaging 3.37 against conference opponents.
Texas' Haley Eckerman was named Preseason Player of the Year while Kansas State's Katie Brand and Texas Tech's Victoria Hinneburg were named co-Preseason Freshman of the Year.
Adom was joined by Eckerman, Khat Bell (UT), Bailey Webster (UT), Kristen Hahn (Iowa State), Victoria Hurtt (ISU), Mackenzie Bigbee (ISU), Caroline Jarmoc (Kansas), Sara McClinton (KU), Erin McNorton (KU), Sallie McLaurin (Oklahoma), Kierra Holst (OU), Kaitlynn Pelger (KSU) and Yvonne Igodan (TCU) on the 14-member team.
Baylor's senior was named First-Team All-Big 12 last season after posting 244 kills, hitting a career-high .227 and adding 45 blocks on the year. Adom helped Baylor to a 20-12 overall record and a 7-9 mark in Big 12 play.
"Our team and coaches are happy that Zoe is being recognized on the preseason team. She had a great season last year, and she has improved a great deal since then," said Baylor head coach Jim Barnes. "We anticipate a few more of our players being named All-Big 12 at the end of the season."
The 2013 Big 12 Volleyball Preseason poll will be announced Wednesday, and the Bears begin practice Saturday with the season-opener scheduled for Aug. 30 in Fort Collins, Colo. as Baylor takes on Colorado State.
