Baylor opens up Big 12 Conference play on the road against Texas Tech Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas. The Bears then head straight to the Fiesta Bowl, where they will face Gonzaga Friday, UTEP and host Northern Arizona Saturday. The Gonzaga match is scheduled for 5 p.m. CDT, UTEP is scheduled for 2 p.m. CDT and Northern Arizona 9:30 p.m.

The Bears went 1-2 at the Comcast Lady Vol Classic last weekend in Knoxville, Tenn. Baylor was swept by No. 16 Tennessee and College of Charleston, before salvaging the final match against Central Michigan. Junior outside hitter and captain Nicole LeBlanc was named to the all-tournament team for the Bears.

Baylor returns to action at home against Iowa State Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. The match will be the first Bearcast of the season, with live video and audio available on BaylorBears.com.

LeBlanc Earning Her Stripes
Junior outside hitter Nicole LeBlanc was voted the Bears' floor captain this season and has responded by ranking second on the team in kills per game (3.77), digs per game (3.15) and aces per game (0.35)...She ranks among the top 15 in the Big 12 Conference in all three categories and was named to the all-tournament team at the Comcast Lady Vol Classic...LeBlanc has three double-doubles this season, including a 21-kill, 17-dig effort against Texas State, and now has 15 for her career.

Schramek Pacing Bears' D
Sophomore libero Kristen Schramek ranks third in the Big 12 Conference with 4.65 digs per game and recorded 20 in only three games against College of Charleston...Schramek has posted double figure digs in each of the first eight matches, including a season-high 22 against Texas State.

Stellar Performance
Senior middle blocker Stella Odion has hit .500 or better three times this season, including an amazing night against McNeese State when she hit .700 with 16 kills, no errors on 20 attempts...The Bears hit .535 as a team for the match, the second-highest percentage in school history behind a .556 showing against Jackson State Sept. 3, 1999...The last two matches Odion hit .510 with 28 kills and 13.0 blocks.

Hammering Debut
Senior middle blocker/outside hitter Melanie Hamerly posted nine kills in her first career volleyball match, then led the Bears with 12 kills in their victory over Louisiana Tech...Over the Bears' first eight matches, Hamerly ranks third on the team with 2.88 kills per game...She has posted double-digit kills in five of the Bears' first eight matches, including the last two...Hamerly played on the Baylor women's basketball team for four years, capping her career with an NCAA Championship in the spring.
