WACO, Texas - The Baylor Bears, fresh off their first road win of the season Wednesday over Rice, head to the University of Houston for the 3-match round robin Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup Friday and Saturday. Baylor will take on LSU Friday at 4:30 p.m., North Texas Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and the Cougars Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Bears are 5-7 on the season but had struggled on the road dropping their first three opportunities and a neutral match with Cal Poly in Greeley, Colo. Aug. 31. Baylor got the monkey off its back Wednesday night in Houston with a four-set win over the Owls using a double-double from Thea Munch-Soegaard and a team-season-high with seven aces.

The Bears will look to carry that momentum into the weekend needing a strong showing in order to prepare for conference play, which begins Sept. 28 at Iowa State.

Baylor is 2-2 all time with LSU (7-1), last playing the Tigers Sept. 1, 2001, where Baylor took a 3-set victory. The Bears lead the all-time series with the Mean Green (6-6), 16-8, but UNT snapped a 16-match losing skid with the Bears the last time the two teams met, Sept. 18, 2012. Baylor dropped the match to UNT, in Denton, in three sets. The Cougars (7-4) have dominated Baylor, leading the series 30-4. However, Baylor has taken the last three matches from Houston including the last meeting Aug. 28, 2009 in a three-set sweep in Houston.
