With each team enduring a losing streak, one will walk away with a much-needed victory as Baylor hosts Oklahoma in Big 12 Conference volleyball action Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
The Bears have lost seven of their last eight, including six straight in Big 12 play, while the Sooners have lost 10 of 11, eight in a row and all seven of their league contests.
Baylor is led by junior outside hitter Nicole LeBlanc, who is averaging 3.74 kills and 2.83 digs per game. The Bears are led on defense by sophomore libero Kristen Schramek, who is averaging 3.82 digs per game, and All-Big 12 junior middle blocker Desiree Guilliard-Young seems to be returning to form, posting her first career double-double Saturday with 10 kills and a career-high 12 blocks against Texas.
Oklahoma is led by Eliane Santos, who is averaging 4.22 kills per game, and Joanna Schmitt, who is averaging 3.09 kills per game. The Sooners are led defensively by Hannah Sharp, who is averaging 3.13 digs per game.
Oklahoma leads the all-time series against Baylor, 20-10, but the Sooners only hold a 7-6 advantage in Waco. After the Bears won six in a row, the Sooners have won five of the last six. The two teams split last year's meetings as Oklahoma rallied past Baylor for a 3-2 victory in the season finale last year in Norman.
The Bears return to action when they host No. 20 Kansas State Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Ferrell Center prior to the Baylor-Nebraska football game at 6 p.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium.
