IRVING, Texas - Baylor volleyball freshman outside hitter Yossiana Pressley was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
This is the sixth weekly honor for the Bears this season and third for a Baylor freshman. Pressley is the first freshman to be named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week since KU’s Madison Rigdon won the honor on Sept. 22, 2014.
Six honors through eight weeks of competition sets a Baylor program record. Last season, BU had four weekly awards at this point of the season.
Pressley earns her first career award behind a career-high 20 kills on a .381 attack efficiency in the Bears’ 3-1 win at Kansas State Saturday.
In the Bears’ first road victory over K-State since 2014, Pressley led the conference in kills per set (5.00) and points per set (5.50). She led all players in the match with her kill total and guided the Bears to a .297 hitting percentage as a team, which led the Big 12 last week.
The Cypress, Texas native has put on an offensive show in Big 12 action, hitting .261 and averaging 3.41 kills per set through the Bears’ first seven matches.
No. 24 Baylor (16-4, 6-1 Big 12) continues Big 12 play with a top-25 matchup against No. 11 Kansas Wednesday night in Waco. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT on Fox Sports Southwest Plus.
