Baylor plays its second straight road match this week as it travels to face Texas Tech Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, Texas. The live audio broadcast begins at 5:15 on BaylorBears.com.
The Bears are led by senior right-side hitter Nicole LeBlanc, who averages 3.44 kills and 3.10 digs per game. Senior middle blocker Desiree Guilliard-Young ranks fifth in the Big 12 with a .353 hitting percentage, averages 2.96 kills per game and ranks second in the league with 1.58 blocks per game. Freshman setter Taylor Barnes paces the offense with 11.43 assists, 1.31 kills and 2.22 digs, while leading the Big 12 with 0.55 aces per game. Junior libero Kristen Schramek leads the Bears defensively, ranking fifth in the conference with 4.15 digs per game.
In their last match, the Bears were swept by Kansas State Wednesday in Manhattan, Kan. Freshman middle blocker Anna Breyfogle led the Bears with 11 kills and six blocks, while Guilliard-Young added 10 kills and five blocks.
Texas Tech is led by Philister Sang, who ranks second in the Big 12 with 4.68 kills per game, and Amy Charlebois, who averages 2.60 kills per game and ranks eighth in the league with 1.35 blocks per game. Jenn Harrell leads the Red Raiders defensively with 3.11 digs per game.
In their last match, the Red Raiders lost a 3-1 decision to No. 15 Oklahoma Wednesday in Norman, Okla. Sang led Texas Tech with a match-high 21 kills, while Brittany Hughes added 12 and Alicia Ostmeyer had 11. Kiley Lyons led the Red Raiders defensively with 17 digs, while Harrell added 15.
Baylor returns home for one of its two remaining home matches when it hosts Kansas Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
